Luis García Plaza is the new coach of Sevilla for the remainder of the season in LaLiga EA Sports and the following one, until June 2027after the dismissal last Monday of the Argentine Matías Almeyda, the Seville club announced this Tuesday.
The 53-year-old from Madrid takes charge of Sevilla, who is only separated from three points from the relegation places after their defeat on Saturday against Valencia (0-2), with the aim of achieving permanence in the nine games remaining to finish this 2025-26 campaign and will continue on their bench in 2026-27 by virtue of the contract signed with the Andalusian club.
García Plaza has directed 229 matches in the First Division in a career that began after his early retirement at the age of 27 as a footballer due to a serious injury after playing for the Atlético de Madrid reserve team, Yeclano, Rayo B, Talavera and Benidorm. At just 30 years old he made the jump to the bench in the Alicante team UD Altea and the last team he coached, in the top category, was Alavés last season, until his dismissal in December 2024.
