After the team time trial, the general classification continues with a mid-mountain day in the region of Morvan. The first 110 km are practically flat. All the difficulty is concentrated in the last 70 km. It is here where the race breaks with three climbs that will function as a chain of wear.
The Côte de la Croix des Cerisiers, 6.2 km at 4.3%, considered third category. At km 164.7 the ascent to the Coast of the Cross of Liberation, which is 4.6 km at 5.3% and increases to second category. Despite the average, at some points of the climb it has slopes of the 12%. And, finally, the climb to Uchon, first category, a final ascent of 8 km at 4.5%, although alternating descents with ramps that get harder until the 16%especially in its final stretch.
It is the first time that the ‘Race of the Sun’ has ended in the so-called ‘Pearl of the Morvan’. In the 2021 Tour de France it was climbed during the course of stage 7, with victory for Matej Mohoric.
