Carolina Marín is among those registered for the Badminton European Championships 2026which will be held in Huelva from April 6 to 12 with more than 200 athletes from more than twenty countries.
The Spanish Badminton Federation has reported that the Huelva athlete you have received an invitation to be part of the women’s singles draw if she manages to recover in time to compete in her hometown and in the sports palace that bears her name.

The Andalusian has indicated on more than one occasion that her desire was to put an end to her career in this European Championship in Huelva. In his record he has seven titles in this competitionin addition to an Olympic gold in Rio 2016 and three World Championships.
The organization of the European Championship includes Marín within the list of participants that are on the official list, which brings together the main figures of European badminton. However, the official draw for the men’s, women’s, doubles and mixed draws has yet to be held.
Spain has four individual representatives and six couples
The women’s individual table, where in addition to Marín there is the Spanish Clara Azurmendithere are athletes such as the Danish Mia Blichfeldt, Line Kjærsfeldt, Line Christophersen and Julie Dawall Jakobsen, the Scottish Kirsty Gilmour, the Turkish Neslihan Arın, the Ukrainian Polina Buhrova and the German Yvonne Li.
In the men’s competition, together with the Spanish Álvaro Leal and Pablo Abiánthree midfielders stand out who are currently positioned among the top ten in the world ranking: the Danish Anders Antonsen (number 3), the Frenchman Christo Popov (number 5) and his compatriot Alex Lanier (number 8).
The Frenchman Toma Junior Popov, the Danish Rasmus Gemke and the Irishman Nhat Nguyen also stand out on the list of participants.
Spain will have double representation in each of the doubles events. In the men’s section, there are pairs formed by Rubén García and Carlos Pirisas well as Jacobo Fernández and Alberto Peralsboth classified by their position in the ranking.
Among the most notable couples are the Danes Kim Astrup and Anders Skaarup Rasmussen, the Englishmen Ben Lane and Sean Vendy, the French brothers Christo Popov and Toma Junior Popov, as well as the Danish duo formed by Daniel Lundgaard and Mads Vestergaard.
The national representation in women’s doubles will be carried out by Paula López and Lucía Rodríguezin addition to Nikol Carulla and Carmen Jiméneztwo young pairs that have shown notable progression over the last year.
Although the field is very open, the Bulgarians Gabriela Stoeva and Stefani Stoeva start as one of the references of the event after having already won four European titles and two runners-up positions.
In mixed doubles Spain will be represented by Rubén García and Lucía Rodríguezas well as for Rodrigo Sanjurjo and Nikol Carulla.
Among the most powerful couples on the list are the Frenchmen Thom Gicquel and Delphine Delrue, along with a powerful Danish block formed by Mathias Christiansen and Alexandra Boje; Jesper Toft and Amalie Magelund; Mads Vestergaard and Christine Busch; and Rasmus Espersen alongside Amalie Cecilie Kudsk.
There is also no shortage of the Germans Marvin Seidel and Thuc Phuong Nguyen or the Scots Alexander Dunn and Julie Macpherson.
With this edition, Huelva will host a European Badminton Championship for the second time, after the one held in 2018 – in which Carolina Marín was proclaimed champion -, reinforcing its role as a reference venue for international badminton, after having also been the scene of the 2021 Absolute and Senior World Championships.
