Spain faces Iceland in the first qualifying match for the 2027 World Cup in Brazil and does so at the Castalia Stadium in Castellón. The Montse Tomé soccer players face the clash with the intention of starting on the right foot on the path that will give them a ticket to the World Cup event. Here live at 6:30 p.m., on La 1 and on RTVE Play.

The coach, Sonia Bermúdez, and her coaching staff are preparing the Spanish team, current world champion, to face the first of the two matches of the qualifying phase for the 2027 World Cup in Brazil that will be played in this window, against Iceland, on Tuesday, March 3 at 7 p.m. in Castellón.

Four days later, on March 7, the Spanish team will travel to Antalya, Türkiye, to play his second match of the window, against Ukraine.

After winning their second consecutive Nations League in December 2025 at the Metropolitan Stadium against Germany (3-0, after drawing 0-0 in the first leg), the internationals called up by Sonia Bermúdez return to the fray.

Spain is included in group A3 along with England on the way to the World Cup, in which Bermúdez’s team can revalidate the title they won in Australia-New Zealand in 2023.

On February 20, Sonia Bermúdez provided her first list of the year 2026, for the matches against Iceland and Ukraine, corresponding to the qualifying phase of the 2027 World Cup in Brazil, and with a large number of young faces that have once again lowered the average age of a team that continues to have new values.

The call of the Madrid coach to begin the defense of the historic star achieved in Sydney on August 20, 2023 maintains a good part of the block of recent years, but, also due to absences, has caused the entry of young footballers who have already shone with the lower categories and who are consolidated in their respective teams.

In total, compared to the last list that Bermúdez gave for the Nations League final against Germany, there are eleven changes, some of them motivated by injuries, such as the cases of Aitana Bonmati, Laia Alexandri, Cata Coll and Mapi Leónfor personal reasons, such as that of Captain Irene Paredes, or for being on maternity leave, as is the case of Esther González.
