RCD Mallorca announced this Thursday afternoon that Martín Demichelis is the new coach of the first team. The Argentine signs with the Vermilion team until the end of the season, although the club has announced that there is the option of extending their contractual relationship for one more season.
Demichelis arrives to replace Jagoba Arrasatedismissed after the team’s latest results, which currently place it in relegation positions. The Balearic team is second to last with 24 points after losing to RC Celta on the last day of the League.
The technician will arrive on the island in the next few hours to witness the match against Real Sociedad and take charge of the team in the next training session.
Demichelis boasts an extensive resume as a professional footballer, and knows the Spanish league after his time in Málaga, Espanyol and Atlético de Madridalthough he did not make his debut for the mattress club when he was transferred to Manchester City.
On the benches, the man from Córdoba has directed the Bayern subsidiary from Munich in Germany, to River Plate in Argentina, where it gained an interesting reputation, since Monterrey in Mexico, where he ended up dismissed before completing a year as coach.
Now, Demichelis arrives in Mallorca for what will be his debut on the European bench with the mission to save the category. The new coach will have 13 games to achieve the goal.
