Carlos Alcaraz beat the British Cameron Norrie this Thursday and qualified for his fifth consecutive semifinal at the Masters 1,000 in Indian Wells (United States), in which he will face the Russian Daniil Medvedev.<\/p>\n
The Spaniard, number one in the world, defeated Norrie (n.29) 6-3 and 6-4 in 1 hour and 33 minutes. <\/p>\n
Alcaraz thus extended his undefeated record in 2026 with a record of 16-0 and with two titles under his belt: the Australian Open and the 500 in Doha.<\/p>\n
Norrie is one of the few tennis players on the circuit who feels comfortable competing with Alcaraz. In fact, the British had won three of their last five matches.<\/p>\n
The last one, a second round duel in the Paris Masters 1,000, the only tournament of the last 14 played by Alcaraz in which the Murcian did not reach, at least, the semifinal round.<\/p>\n
This Thursday, in the Californian desert, Alcaraz was the first to open the gap with a break for 4-2, but Norrie returned the ‘break’ in the following game, won at love after 4 balls from Murcia into the net.<\/p>\n

He saved a break point in the first game of the second set.<\/p>\n For the rest, Norrie broke Alcaraz’s serve to take a 2-0 lead that gave him hope of turning the game around. But the joy was short-lived for the British: in the next game, the Spaniard recovered the break to equalize the set.<\/p>\n The instructions he received from the stands were clear: “Work on the point a little before going up to the net,” Samuel L\u00f3pez, his coach, told him. “That’s a rock,” he added, referring to Norrie.<\/p>\n It was a vibrant duel, in which the two protagonists were having fun. They were both looking for the lines, the impossible points.<\/p>\n Alcaraz broke again to lead 3-2. At 5-3 and at the rest he had two match points, which he let escape, but he did not fail to serve: 6-4 and already in the semifinals.<\/p>\n The Spaniard finished with 27 winning points compared to 15 for Norrie. Besides, Alcaraz took 41% of the first serve points from the rest and 62% of the second serves, key to adding those four breaks that gave him the tie.<\/strong><\/p>\n Alcaraz will play this Saturday his semi-final against Russian Daniil Medvedev (n.11)<\/strong>who eliminated the current champion, the British Jack Draper, 6-1 and 7-5.
